What is the Random Time Zone Generator?

The Random Time Zone Generator returns time zone identifiers in the familiar “Region/City” format used by operating systems and programming languages — Pacific/Auckland, Europe/Lisbon, America/Chicago. Next to each one you get its UTC offset and the current local time, for example “Asia/Dhaka (UTC+06:00 · now 10:18 PM)”.

The local time is calculated from your device’s clock at the moment you press Generate, so the results are a quick world-clock snapshot as well as a list of names. Offsets reflect the zone’s current rule, which means daylight saving time is taken into account when it is in effect.

Use the “How many?” field to choose between 1 and 50 zones. Each zone is picked independently with the Web Crypto API inside your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored. Copy the results or export them as CSV, JSON or TXT to seed a database, build a test matrix or prepare a classroom exercise on world time.

How to use the Random Time Zone Generator

  1. Set How many? to a number between 1 and 50.
  2. Press Generate to pick the time zones.
  3. Check each zone’s UTC offset and current local time.
  4. Copy or export the list as CSV, JSON or TXT.

Popular uses

  • Developers — test date handling, scheduling and reminder logic across many offsets.
  • QA testers — set random user time zones in staging accounts to catch edge cases.
  • Remote teams — practice planning meetings that work across continents.
  • Teachers — explain UTC, offsets and daylight saving with live examples.

Why use RandNow?

  • Instant & unlimited — no sign-up, no daily caps.
  • Private by design — results are generated in your browser, not on our servers.
  • Export-ready — copy, CSV, JSON and TXT downloads built in.
  • Cryptographically random — powered by the Web Crypto API.

Why time zones break software

Offsets are not always whole hours: some zones sit at half-hour or 45-minute offsets, and many shift by an hour for daylight saving on dates that vary by country. Storing times in UTC and converting to the user’s named zone — not a fixed offset — avoids most bugs. Always test around midnight and on daylight saving transition days.

The zone names follow the widely used IANA time zone database, so you can paste them directly into most date libraries. Press Generate again for a fresh set — it’s free and unlimited.

Frequently asked questions

Is the local time shown accurate?

It is calculated from your device’s clock when you generate, so it is as accurate as your system time.

What format are the time zone names?

They use the “Region/City” identifiers of the IANA time zone database, such as Europe/Lisbon.

How many time zones can I generate?

Between 1 and 50 per click.

Does it account for daylight saving time?

Yes, the offset shown is the one in effect for that zone at the moment you generate.
