What is the Random Vegetable Generator?

The random vegetable generator chooses from a broad list of vegetables used in kitchens around the world, from staples like carrots and tomatoes to leafy bok choy, crunchy green beans and versatile cauliflower. It is an easy way to add variety to your cooking and your plate.

Pick how many vegetables you want, from 1 to 50, with three as the default. One vegetable can anchor a recipe; three make a stir-fry, roast tray or soup challenge; a longer list can become a weekly shopping plan. Each pick is independent, so the same vegetable can appear twice in a longer list.

Everything runs in your browser using the Web Crypto API — nothing is saved. Copy the results or export them as CSV, JSON or TXT. A culinary note: tomatoes are botanically a fruit but are usually cooked and served as a vegetable, which is why you’ll find them here alongside the leafy greens and root vegetables.

  1. Enter how many vegetables you want in “How many?” (1 to 50).
  2. Press Generate to get your random vegetables.
  3. Plan a dish around them, or copy the list for shopping.
  4. Export as CSV, JSON or TXT, or press Generate again for a new mix.

Mystery-vegetable cooking challenge

Generate three vegetables and cook one dish that uses all of them. Roasting is the most forgiving method: cut everything to a similar size, toss with oil and salt, and roast in a hot oven until browned. Stir-frying works well for quick-cooking vegetables like bok choy and green beans, while soups and curries can absorb almost anything. Rotate the challenge through the family so everyone gets to be chef — it’s a fun way to get kids to taste new vegetables.

Press Generate again for a fresh set — it’s free and unlimited.
