What is the Random Noun Generator?
The Random Noun Generator picks English nouns — words for people, places, things and ideas. Results are labeled with their part of speech, like “horizon (noun)” or “opera (noun)”, and favor vivid, everyday words that are easy to draw, act out or build a story around.
Three options give you control. Word type is preset to Nouns, but you can switch to Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs or Any if you want a mix. How many? sets the batch size from 1 to 100. Case formats the output as lowercase, Title Case or UPPERCASE, which is handy when pasting into slides, game cards or code.
Random nouns are a classic creativity tool: three unrelated nouns can kick-start a short story, a brainstorming session or a design challenge. Each word is chosen in your browser using the Web Crypto API, nothing is stored, and you can copy the list or export it as CSV, JSON or TXT.

Quick games with random nouns
Story chain: generate five nouns and have each player add a sentence that uses the next one. Sketch sprint: generate ten nouns and give everyone 30 seconds per drawing. Plural practice: ask learners to write the plural of each noun — horizon and forest are easy, but irregular nouns make great bonus rounds.
For Pictionary, Title Case or UPPERCASE output prints clearly on cards, and you can export a long list as TXT to print a whole deck at once. Press Generate again for a fresh set — it’s free and unlimited.
