What is the Random Routing Number Generator?
A routing number, also called an ABA routing transit number, is the nine-digit code that identifies a US bank or credit union on checks, direct deposits and ACH transfers. This generator creates random routing numbers in that exact format, ready to paste into test forms, fixtures and spreadsheets.
Every number is built so the final digit is a correct check digit. The ABA checksum multiplies the nine digits by the repeating weights 3, 7 and 1, adds the results, and requires the total to be divisible by 10. Because each generated number passes this test, it will get through the same validation your app, payment provider or form library performs — which makes it far more useful for testing than nine random digits.
You can create anywhere from 1 to 100 numbers at a time and export them as CSV, JSON or TXT. Everything runs in your browser using the Web Crypto API, and nothing is stored or sent anywhere. The numbers are random and are not meant to point to any particular bank.
How to use the Random Routing Number Generator
- Enter how many routing numbers you need in How many? (1–100).
- Press Generate to create the list instantly.
- Copy a single number or the whole list with one click.
- Export to CSV, JSON or TXT, or share a link that keeps your settings.
Popular uses
- Developers — test ACH, direct-deposit and e-check forms with checksum-valid input.
- QA engineers — confirm validators accept good numbers and reject altered ones.
- Payroll & HR software teams — fill demo employee records with realistic bank details.
- Educators — show students how check digits catch typing mistakes.

Checking a routing number by hand
Take the nine digits and multiply them in order by 3, 7, 1, 3, 7, 1, 3, 7, 1. Add up all nine products. If the sum ends in zero, the checksum is valid. For example, if you change any one digit of a generated number, the total no longer divides by 10 — a quick way to create “bad” test input too.
Use responsibly
These numbers are for testing and education only. A passing checksum does not make a number belong to a real bank, and they must never be used to attempt payments or deceive anyone. Press Generate again for a fresh batch — it’s free and unlimited.

How many routing numbers can I generate?
Up to 100 per click, and you can press Generate as many times as you like.
Can I use these numbers to make a payment?
No. They are only for testing software, forms and validation logic.
