What is the Random PIN Generator?
People are bad at picking PINs. Studies of leaked codes consistently show that sequences, repeated digits and years dominate real-world choices, which makes them the first guesses an attacker will try. This generator removes the human bias: every digit is drawn with the Web Crypto API, the browser’s cryptographically secure random source, directly on your device.
Choose a length of 4, 5, 6 or 8 digits and create up to 100 PINs at once. With the “Avoid weak PINs” option switched on (the default), codes that look like simple sequences, repeated digits or years such as 1990 are rejected and drawn again, so the result is something nobody would guess from a list of common PINs. Switch it off if you need a perfectly uniform distribution, for example in a test that checks every possible value.
Leading zeros are kept, so 0472 is a valid four-digit result. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere — once you close the page, the codes exist only where you copied them.
How to use the Random PIN Generator
- Pick the number of Digits: 4, 5, 6 or 8.
- Enter How many? PINs you want, up to 100.
- Keep Avoid weak PINs switched on to skip patterns like 1234, 0000 and years.
- Press Generate and copy the PIN you like, or export the list.
Popular uses
- Everyday security — choose a new code for a phone, safe, alarm panel or door lock.
- IT administrators — issue temporary PINs for voicemail, badges or device enrollment.
- QA testers — fill numeric PIN and OTP fields with realistic values.
- Event organizers — create access codes for lockers, rooms or Wi-Fi vouchers.
Why use RandNow?
- Instant & unlimited — no sign-up, no daily caps.
- Private by design — results are generated in your browser, not on our servers.
- Export-ready — copy, CSV, JSON and TXT downloads built in.
- Cryptographically random — powered by the Web Crypto API.
How many combinations does a PIN have?
Each extra digit multiplies the possibilities by ten: a 4-digit PIN has 10,000 combinations, 5 digits give 100,000, 6 digits give one million and 8 digits give one hundred million. Most devices also lock after a few wrong attempts, which is what makes even a short random PIN effective — as long as it isn’t a predictable one.
Tips for using a PIN
Use a different PIN for your bank card and your phone, don’t write it on the card, and change it if you suspect someone saw you type it. When a service allows 6 digits, prefer that over 4. Press Generate again for a fresh set — it’s free and unlimited.
Frequently asked questions
Is a randomly generated PIN safer than one I pick?
Usually, yes. Human-chosen PINs cluster around birthdays, sequences and repeated digits, while a random PIN is equally likely to be any of the allowed values.
What counts as a weak PIN?
Easy patterns such as 1234, 0000, 1111 or a year like 1990. With “Avoid weak PINs” on, the generator skips these and draws a new code instead.
Can a PIN start with zero?
Yes. Leading zeros are kept, so codes like 0815 are valid results — check that the device or system you use accepts them.
How many PINs can I generate at once?
Up to 100 per batch, in 4, 5, 6 or 8 digits. You can copy them or export them as CSV, JSON or TXT.
