About this tool

This online d20 roller is set up for the most-rolled die in tabletop gaming. It opens with one twenty-sided die ready to go: press Generate and you get a number from 1 to 20, each with an equal 5% chance. That makes it ideal for attack rolls, saving throws and ability checks in Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and other d20 systems.

You are not limited to one die. Change “Number of dice” to roll up to 20 at once, and use “Sides per die” to switch between d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100. The tool shows every individual roll and a total in standard dice notation, such as “Total: 27 (3d20)”, so damage rolls and stat checks are quick to read.

Rolls come from the Web Crypto API rather than a physical die, so there is no wear, weighting or table edge to worry about. Everything runs in your browser with no sign-up, and you can share a link with your settings so your group rolls the same dice.

How to use it

  1. Leave the defaults — one die with 20 sides — for a standard d20 roll.
  2. Change Number of dice (1–20) or Sides per die (d4 to d100) if you need a different roll.
  3. Press Generate, or hit Enter or Space, to roll.
  4. Read each die and the total, then add your modifiers as your game rules say.

  • Solo gamers — drive random tables in solo RPGs and gamebooks.

Advantage, disadvantage and natural 20s

In fifth-edition D&D, rolling with advantage means rolling two d20s and keeping the higher result; disadvantage means keeping the lower. Set “Number of dice” to 2 and read the individual results to handle either. A “natural 20” — the die showing 20 before modifiers — usually means a critical hit on an attack, while a natural 1 is an automatic miss.

Each face of a fair d20 has a 1 in 20 chance, so a natural 20 comes up about 5% of the time on a single roll; with advantage the chance rises to roughly 9.75%. Ready for initiative? Press Generate again — it’s free and unlimited.
