What is the Random User Agent Generator?

A user agent string is the text a browser sends with every request to tell a server what software and platform it is running. Websites use it for analytics, feature detection and serving mobile layouts, which means developers and testers often need a variety of realistic strings to check how their code reacts.

This generator builds complete, correctly structured user agent strings for popular combinations such as Chrome on Android, Edge on desktop and Safari on iPhone, with plausible version numbers and device names. Each result is followed by a short label in parentheses — for example “Chrome · Android” — so you can tell what it represents without decoding it. Use the Device option to get any mix, only desktop strings or only mobile strings, and create up to 50 at a time. Remember to drop the label when you paste a string into a header.

The strings are assembled in your browser and are suitable for testing, logging fixtures and parser checks. They imitate real formats but are generated combinations, so a specific version and device pairing may not match a shipping release exactly.

How to read a user agent string

Most strings begin with “Mozilla/5.0” for historical compatibility reasons. The part in the first parentheses describes the platform — for example an iPhone OS version or an Android device. Tokens such as AppleWebKit and “KHTML, like Gecko” name the rendering engine, and the final tokens identify the browser and its version, like Chrome/130 or Edg/121.

Use responsibly

Changing your user agent is a normal part of testing, but it should not be used to evade a website’s terms or access controls. Feature detection is generally more reliable than user agent sniffing in production code. Press Generate again for a fresh set — it’s free and unlimited.

Frequently asked questions

What is a user agent string?

It is a line of text a browser sends with each request, describing the browser, its version and the operating system or device it runs on.

Can I get only mobile user agents?

Yes. Set Device to “Mobile” for phone browsers such as Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android, or “Desktop” for desktop browsers only.

What is the label in parentheses at the end?

It is a readable summary like “Safari · iPhone” added by the generator. It is not part of the real string, so remove it before using the value in a request header.

How many user agents can I generate?

Up to 50 per batch, and you can generate again as often as you like.
